Children’s Emergency Shelter

24 HOURS A DAY, 365 DAYS A YEAR

Created in 1969, Childhaven’s Emergency Shelter for children, youth, and teens is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  Our shelter is available for immediate placement of youth from birth through age 17.  With a license to care for 32 children, we are the largest children’s shelter in the state of New Mexico. Because we can accept children in a wide age range, we are able to accept groups of siblings who might be split up if placed elsewhere.  Children in our care are provided with:

• Food
• Clothing
• Medical attention
• Educational assistance
• Transportation and recreational activities
• Trauma screenings
• Referrals for therapy as needed

Annually, our shelter provides over 4,000 nights of care for children in need.
