Childhaven Awarded $5,000 from Zenity Insurance through Liberty Mutual Insurance Company® and Safeco Insurance® Make More Happen Awards™
Community’s Support Can Help Increase Donation to $10,000 by Sharing the Story on Social Media
FARMINGTON, N.M. (November 1, 2021) — Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance are proud to announce that Zenity Insurance has earned a 2021 Make More Happen Award, recognizing its exceptional volunteerism with Childhaven, a nonprofit dedicated to lifting children from crisis to hope. The award includes a $5,000 donation with a chance to double the amount to $10,000 that will directly benefit the organization.
Beginning Wednesday, November 3, the story of Zenity Insurance and Childhaven will be featured on the official Make More Happen microsite www.agentgiving.com/zenity-insurance allowing the nonprofit a chance to earn the additional $5,000. If the featured story receives at least 500 votes— shares to social media and comments on their story—the donation will be doubled to $10,000.
Childhaven has been serving the San Juan County community for 50 years, addressing issues of child abuse and neglect. In celebration of this milestone anniversary, the $10,000 donation will help fund child abuse prevention, intervention, and treatment services within their community.
“While I understand that living in the shelter isn’t ideal, if I can provide any light to these kids, I hope it’s something that they remember for years to come,” said Edie Crow, Owner of Zenity Insurance. “We are forever grateful to receive this Make More Happen Award from Liberty Mutual and Safeco to provide Childhaven with much needed funds to continue their impactful work.”
Crow is honored to dedicate her time to such an impactful organization within her community. Starting her volunteer work with Childhaven right before COVID struck, Crow has since purchased and donated clothes and personal items for children in emergency situations and volunteers her time at the shelter. Her work contributes to the over 250,000+ meals served and more than 90,000 volunteer hours benefitting Childhaven during the last 50 years.
While 2020 presented its challenges, Crow advocated regularly for Childhaven, especially during the holidays. She held a drive-thru trick-or-treat event for Halloween, brought Christmas to the shelter for children to meet Santa and enjoy a hot meal, and Crow’s daughter dressed up as the Easter Bunny and conducted an egg hunt for the kids to enjoy.
“We are so proud of our agents and their commitment to volunteering for important causes in their local communities to raise both funds and awareness,” said David Hatch, Liberty Mutual Mountain Region Senior Territory Manager. “The Make More Happen Awards allow our agents to make an even greater impact in Farmington and we hope it motivates others to do the same.”
Throughout 2021, Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance will select a total of 34 independent agents nationwide for a Make More Happen Award donating up to $340,000 to the nonprofits they support. Agencies became eligible for the award by submitting an application demonstrating their commitment to a specific nonprofit, along with photos of a project they worked on.
