Foster Care

BECOME A FOSTER PARENT TODAY

Since 1969, Childhaven has been dedicated to Lifting Children from Crisis to Hope. As part of this mission, we provide comprehensive training and licensing opportunities for individuals interested in becoming foster parents. Our specialized therapeutic foster care program is designed to support children who need additional support. We equip foster families with the tools, licensing guidance, and continued support needed to create stable, nurturing environments where children can begin to heal and thrive.

Childhaven offers flexible options to meet your capacity to help-whether you’re interested in becoming a full time therapeutic foster parent or providing part-time support through respite care. We value your commitment and will walk alongside you every step of the way.

Children in our community are waiting for homes that will offer safety, care, and the stability they’ve been missing. Request Information about becoming a foster parent or contact our Foster Care Recruiter at (505) 325-5358 ext 155.

ENSURING THAT CHILDREN FEEL SAFE AND SUPPORTED

Childhaven provides child-centered, evidence-based Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC) for children ages 2 to 17 years for children who are in need of a stable, supportive family environment. By fostering safety, building resilience, and helping children develop healthy coping skills in structured home settings, Childhaven guides them towards successful and lasting placements.

Our foster care staff and families receive specialized training in Trauma-Responsive Care, the Nurtured Heart Approach, Crisis Prevention Intervention, and more. Childhaven’s Therapeutic foster parents are highly trained and supported as independent contractors, receiving daily care rate compensation. They collaborate closely with therapists, psychiatrists, social workers, and other advocates to ensure each child receives the care and stability they deserve.
