New Mexico Children’s Alliance

Children's Advocacy

The New Mexico Children's Alliance (NMCA) is an accredited State Chapter of the National Children’s Alliance. The Alliance supports member centers in the state and New Mexico communities establishing new centers.

NMCA’s responsibilities are:

  • Train Alliance staff and Multi-Disciplinary Teams in the network
  • Represent New Mexico’s Children’s Advocacy Centers regionally and nationally - see list below
  • Provide technical assistance
  • Function as the fiscal agent for the network with state and federal funding
  • Act as liaison for the state with the National Children’s Alliance

Children's Advocacy Center Locations

A Children’s Advocacy Center provides a safe, child-friendly environment where kids can tell their story to a trained professional forensic interviewer, and where their non-offending family members can receive information about child abuse and its effects. Wrap around services at a CAC may include counseling, medical exams, and referrals to other needed services in the community. It is also where law enforcement, child protective services, prosecution, mental health and medical professionals can develop effective coordinated strategies in child abuse investigations that are sensitive to the needs of each unique child and case.
